Conference race update

Here is your final Big East race update of the season.

It is pretty clear cut: Rutgers and Louisville are essentially the only schools that can go to the BCS. They play Thursday night in New Jersey.

Here are your scenarios:

  • Rutgers clinches the BCS berth with a win over Louisville.

  • If Louisville wins and Cincinnati beats UConn, the highest-ranked team in the final BCS standings between Louisville and Rutgers will receive the BCS berth. That is expected to be the Cardinals based on their better overall record. Syracuse, Rutgers, Cincinnati and Louisville would all be declared Big East co-champs.

  • If Louisville and UConn win, the highest-ranked team in the final BCS standings between Louisville, Rutgers and Syracuse will receive the BCS berth. That is expected to be the Cardinals based on their better overall record. Louisville, Rutgers and Syracuse would all be declared Big East co-champs.

Happy final week of the regular season!
