The NFL's schedule release Thursday was one big step toward helping Houston's college football team finalize its seven home dates for the 2013 season.

The Cougars' inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference has four home games finalized for Reliant Stadium, but logistics and uncertainty surrounding the NFL's Texans' slate had left three home contests without a location.

Houston has four games confirmed for Reliant Stadium: Aug. 30 vs. Southern, Sept. 21 vs. Rice, Oct. 19 vs. BYU and Oct. 31 vs. USF.

The school says it is currently working with the NFL, Reliant Stadium and others to finalize locations for its other three home games: Oct. 12 vs. Memphis, Nov. 23 vs. Cincinnati and Nov. 29 vs. SMU.

Below is a letter the athletic department sent out to season-ticket holders.
