Cincinnati is No. 4 in the latest Associated Press Top 25, the highest ranking in school history. That's the good news for the Bearcats.

The bad news for them is that they stayed at No. 7 in the USA Today coaches' poll, the one that matters (along with the Harris Poll) for the BCS standings. Cincinnati was leapfrogged in the coaches' poll by Iowa. Apparently, the Bearcats' 21-point road win at Syracuse was not nearly as impressive as Iowa struggling for three quarters at home against Indiana before winning by 18.

How that makes sense is anyone's guess. Iowa actually dropped one spot to No. 8 in the AP poll, as maybe those voters actually watched the games on Saturday.

TCU and Boise State are also ahead of Cincinnati in the coaches' poll but not the AP rankings.

Pittsburgh moved up to No. 14 in both rankings after its bye week. South Florida is the top vote-getter not to get ranked, making the Bulls No. 26. West Virginia fell out of the rankings after losing to South Florida on Friday night.

The BCS standings will be out later today.
