South Florida kicker Maikon Bonani, who broke a vertebrae in a fall from an amusement park ride this summer, was back kicking at practice Monday night, Greg Auman reports in the St. Petersburg Times.
Bonani fell some 35 feet off a gondola ride at Busch Gardens, where he worked this summer, back in July. He was not expected to play this season, though I speculated earlier in the year that he might try to come back if the Bulls were in Big East contention and hadn't fixed their kicking woes.
Walk-on Eric Schwartz has recently solidified a very shaky kicking game and made all three of his attempts in the win over West Virginia. So there doesn't seem to be any reason to rush Bonani back at this point in the season.
Still, it's good to see him back on the practice field after that scary accident this summer.
