Pittsburgh senior Dorin Dickerson was named one of eight semifinalists for the John Mackey Award, presented annually to the nation's top tight end.
Dickerson leads all tight ends with 10 touchdown catches. He has already established a new single-season Pitt record for a tight end, eclipsing the prior mark of nine set by Kris Wilson in 2003. Dickerson has 43 receptions for 496 yards on the season.
The other semifinalists are Ed Dickson (Oregon), Aaron Hernandez (Florida), Anthony McCoy (USC), Tony Moeaki (Iowa), Dennis Pitta (BYU), Kyle Rudolph (Notre Dame) and Cody Slate (Marshall).
This might be an award that a Big East player could actually win this year.
