Butch Jones is still answering questions at his introductory news conference as the new Cincinnati coach as I type this.

But the biggest question has just been answered: Jones will not coach the No. 3 Bearcats in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Interim coach Jeff Quinn will still be in charge for that game.

Jones said he would be "an onlooker and a bystander" from now until the bowl game. He said it hasn't been decided yet how much involvement he'll have with former employer Central Michigan in its bowl. The Chippewas have named an interim coach.

"I don't want to do anything to get in the way of them trying to go 13-0," he said.

Jones also added that he has already made one hire to his new staff. He'll retain defensive backs coach/associate head coach Kerry Coombs from the Brian Kelly regime. Coombs was a longtime successful high school coach in Cincinnati.
