West Virginia reacts to Henry's death

The shocking death of Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry has hit home in West Virginia.

Henry lettered for the Mountaineers in 2003 and 2004 and was the Big East freshman of the year in 2003. His 209 receiving yards against Syracuse in '03 set a school record that still stands, and his 1,006 receiving yards that season are second most in program history.

Head coach Bill Stewart issued this statement:

“The entire Mountaineer football family is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Chris Henry. He is in my thoughts, as well as those of his former teammates, right now.

“We say, ‘Once a Mountaineer, always a Mountaineer,’ and Chris was a big part of our success during his time here. For me, he was a real joy to be around on a daily basis. He always came to work and loved to play football. Our hearts and prayers go out to his mother and family. He will be greatly missed.”
