The final tally for the Big East in the two major polls looks like this: one top 10 team, two in the top 15 and three ranked teams in all.
Cincinnati tumbled to No. 8 in the final Associated Press rankings and is No. 9 in the final USA Today coaches' poll after its humbling loss to Florida in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Pitt finished at No. 15 in both polls, the school's highest final ranking since 1982.
And West Virginia, which lost to Florida State in the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl, came in at No. 25 in AP and No. 22 in the coaches' poll.
I thought UConn deserved some attention for the way it finished the season. But the Huskies were only 35th among AP voters and 37th from the coaches. Rutgers also received votes in both polls.
All in all, not a bad finish for a league that started the year with no ranked teams.
