In what looks like a cool homecoming story, former Syracuse and NFL star Rob Moore is returning to his alma mater to coach the Orange wide receivers. He replaces Jaime Elizondo, who was let go after the season.

Moore, who played 12 years in the NFL, was the wide receivers coach for Phoenix Junior College and served as a consultant for Protect Management and Athlete’s Performance, which trained collegiate football players entering the NFL draft. He also worked as a radio analysts on Arizona Cardinals games. He spent this past spring studying under Syracuse coach Doug Marrone as he prepared to go into coaching.

A 1989 All-American, he still holds the Syracuse record for receiving yards per game (75.8) and touchdown receptions (22), while his 2,122 career receiving yards ranks third in school history. He finished his pro career with 628 receptions for 9,386 yards and 49 touchdowns in 153 games with the New York Jets and the Cardinals.
