Scouts Inc. took a look today at some of the top uncommitted prospects nationally as signing day rapidly approaches. A few of them have Big East schools in the mix. Here are some of the biggest battles remaining between now and Wednesday when it comes to the Big East:
- Wide receiver Ivan McCartney, rated No. 18 at his position and an ESPNU 150 player, is choosing between West Virginia, Florida and Miami. Scouts Inc. likes the Mountaineers' chances of landing this four-star performer.
- Another ESPNU 150 receiver, Willis Wright, has West Virginia, Rutgers and South Florida bidding for his services. But Scouts Inc. predicts he's headed for Florida International.
- South Florida desperately wants to hold on to Todd Chandler, the No. 7 defensive tackle. He has been said to be wavering and may be looking at Miami and even Louisville now instead of the Bulls.
- Jeremy Deering, the No. 17 athlete in the class, is down to Rutgers and Florida State.
- Anthony Render, a huge offensive line prospect at 6-foot-3 and 330 pounds, has Cincinnati, West Virginia and Louisville among his final suitors.
- Eric Franklin, another huge offensive lineman at 6-foot-7, 314 pounds, is still considering Pitt and Louisville.
- Dejor Simmons, the No. 62 running back, has West Virginia, UConn and Louisville on his final list.
