2 from league are Freshman All-Americans
By Andrea Adelson
Cincinnati offensive tackle Parker Ehinger and Temple linebacker Tyler Matakevich were selected to the FWAA Freshman All-America team Monday thanks to impressive performances in 2012.
Ehinger, a redshirt freshman, started 12 games on the season -- 11 at right tackle. His development and consistency were big reasons why the Bearcats had one of the best offensive lines in the Big East. Remember, offensive line was a huge area of concern going into the season, but Cincinnati exceeded expectations at the position.
Matakevich, a true freshman, won Big East Rookie of the Year honors after his emergence after the first month of 2012. Matakevich played in all 11 games, starting eight in the middle, and became the first freshman in school history to record 100 tackles. He led the Temple defense with 101 tackles, including 67 solo stops, three tackles for loss, three breakups, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.
