Big East well-represented for Senior Bowl

By Andrea Adelson

The Big East will be well-represented in the Senior Bowl this month.

Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib is the latest addition to the roster, giving the Big East seven players in the all-star game. Last year, the league had three representatives -- Cincinnati running back Isaiah Pead, Cincinnati defensive tackle Derek Wolfe, and UConn defensive tackle Kendall Reyes.

Here are the Big East selections so far for 2013:
One of the more intriguing storylines to follow involves Nassib. I am interested to see whether Nassib improves his draft stock, especially when you consider how weak the quarterback class is for 2013. Nassib has all the physical tools NFL coaches want to see -- good size, arm strength, intelligence and leadership ability. He has started for three years and has proven he can lead an offense.

And it has escaped no one that Buffalo has a need at quarterback, and look who is in charge now -- his old coach, Doug Marrone.

As of now, ESPN NFL draft expert Mel Kiper lists Nassib as the No. 5 senior quarterback available in the draft. He is projected as a mid-round selection, but a good performance in the Senior Bowl and at the combine could change all that. Stay tuned.
