Thoughts on MSU's new branding identity

As promised, Michigan State unveiled its new branding identity today, ending a two-year project the university conducted with Nike.

I'll have more on Michigan State early next week, but really, all we care about are the pictures, which are right here.

My first reaction: not bad. The Nike influence is obvious in some of the unis, especially the road football ones, which look a bit like one of the 14,000 jerseys Oregon wears for its games. The big change is the placement of stripes along the shoulders: green for road games, white for home games. The jersey worn by linebacker Eric Gordon (No. 43) doesn't look much different from the old one.

There are also small stripes around the knees on the road jersey worn by quarterback Kirk Cousins and the home jersey worn by linebacker Greg Jones. Gordon's uniform pants have a stripe than runs almost to the waist, and include a Spartans logo. The Michigan State lettering also has changed on the uniforms, but it's more noticeable for basketball.

If I had to vote, Gordon's uniform would be my favorite.

Then again, as you folks often remind me, my fashion sense isn't the best. And besides, it's you guys who really matter when evaluating how your favorite teams look on the field.

So what do you think about Michigan State's new uniforms?
