... check out the Iowa coach's quote from Wednesday afternoon when asked about the won't-go-away rumors that he might interview for the Kansas City Chiefs head coaching vacancy.

"Unless I get hit by a truck, I'll see you on March 25," Ferentz said about the first day of spring football practice. "If I get hit by a truck, I can't help you there. But my plans are to be here, and I said that back on New Year's Day."

Ferentz's friendship with Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli has fueled the speculation.

"Scott's a great friend and I know he'll do a great job selecting a coach for the Kansas City Chiefs," Ferentz said. "I'm a fan of where my friends are, so I'm a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. But I'm a huge fan of Iowa, too, and I'm looking forward to a lot of good things ahead. We're excited about next year. It will be good to get going."
