• There were no Joe Tiller-like outbursts from Ohio State's Jim Tressel after he lost recruit Justin Green to Illinois, Tim May writes in The Columbus Dispatch.  

There is no gentlemen's agreement among Big Ten football coaches about staying away from players who have already committed.

"There is no such thing," Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said. "You know, there is a signing day, and that's why they have it."

• Big Ten assistants Luke Fickell (Ohio State), Larry Johnson (Penn State), Dan Enos (Michigan State), Reggie Mitchell (Illinois) and Rod Smith (Michigan) made Rivals.com's list of the top 25 recruiters for 2009.  
• The recruiting battles for the top 2010 prospects in Michigan is already under way, and the first name on the list will be a familiar one to Big Ten fans, Matt Dorsey and Josh Helmholdt write in the Detroit Free Press. 
• Penn State's on-field success this fall helped the Nittany Lions out-recruit some of their competitors in the region, Jeff Rice writes in the Centre Daily Times. 
• A local pastor helped Wisconsin lure quarterback Jon Budmayr away from Notre Dame, Tom Mulhern writes in the Wisconsin State Journal. 

"Father Mike, he's a great guy," Budmayr said. "He was amazing. He was actually in the room when I came up and committed. He just has been a great friend. I really just can't wait to get to doing things, being a part of what he does up here, too."

• Decommitments from college football recruits aren't nearly as big a problem as decommitments from college football coaches, Rick Morrissey writes in the Chicago Tribune.
