Illinois had all the momentum in what coach Ron Zook called a "must-win game," jumping ahead 14-3 following an athletic play by linebacker Nate Bussey to record a pick-six on a swing pass. Zook set the tone early with a fourth-and-1 call on the Illinois 29-yard line.
Penn State has to feel good about its response, but the Lions still must show they can convert red zone opportunities into touchdowns. Illinois set the Lions up nicely following a fumbled punt, and Penn State once again had to settle for a field goal.
I didn't expect a high-scoring game, but both offenses have moved the ball decently. Should be a good one in Happy Valley.
