It's time for our weekly look at future Big Ten member Nebraska, which didn't have an easy time in the state of Iowa on Saturday (get used to it).

Record: 8-1 (4-1 Big 12)

National rank: No. 8 in BCS standings, No. 9 in AP poll, No. 8 in coaches' poll.

Last result: Beat Iowa State 31-30 in overtime in Ames.

News to know: The heavily favored Huskers survived a major scare against Iowa State after Eric Hagg intercepted a pass on a fake PAT attempt that would have given the Cyclones the win in overtime. It was an interesting call by Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads, and not one I endorse when you're the home team. Nebraska appeared well on its way to another convincing win before blowing a 24-10 fourth-quarter lead. It seems like the Huskers' maturity issues show up at times like in the Iowa State game, the Texas loss and even the win against South Dakota State in late September. Nebraska is an extremely talented team, but the consistency doesn't seem to always be there. Still, a win is a win, especially since the Huskers played without star quarterback Taylor Martinez. T-Magic is expected to return this week against Kansas. Reserve quarterback Cody Green also appears to be OK. The Kansas game has an interesting subplot as Jayhawks coach Turner Gill faces his alma mater, where he starred at quarterback for Tom Osborne.

Up next: Saturday vs. Kansas
