Wisconsin's running back depth has been its hallmark, and it will be tested Saturday against Indiana.
As expected, starter John Clay will miss today's game against Indiana with a sprained knee. Coach Bret Bielema listed Clay as questionable to begin the week, seemed to become more optimistic Tuesday but hinted Thursday that the junior wouldn't be on the field. The 2009 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year isn't in uniform at Camp Randall Stadium.
Sophomore Montee Ball is expected to start at running back, while freshman James White returns to the mix after missing time with a sprained knee. Ball rushed for 115 yards and two scores last year against Indiana.
Today's game should provide a glimpse of Wisconsin's future at running back, as Clay certainly will have an NFL decision to make after the season.
