The Defensive Player of the Year award can be handed to "Superman" right now as far as I'm concerned. The Offensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year races, meanwhile, continue to heat up.

Let's take a look.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

1. Northwestern QB Dan Persa: 222-for-302 passing (73.5 percent), 2,581 pass yards, 15 TDs, 4 INTs, passer rating of 159.04 (No. 12 nationally); 164 carries, 519 rush yards, 9 TDs
