Big Ten awards race update: Week 13

Two of these awards seem to be wrapped up. Purdue's Ryan Kerrigan should be the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and Wisconsin's James White should be the Big Ten Freshman of the Year.

The Offensive Player of the Year race, meanwhile, continues to change every Saturday. I've included only the top six candidates for that honor.

Let's take a look.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

1. Michigan QB Denard Robinson: 227 carries, 1,538 rush yards (139.8 ypg, No. 3 nationally), 14 TDs; 147-for-232 passing (63.4 percent), 2,229 pass yards, 16 TDs, 10 INTs, passer rating of 158.2 (No. 16 nationally); broke FBS single-season record for quarterback rushing; first FBS player to record 1,500 rush yards and 2,000 pass yards in a season

2. Northwestern QB Dan Persa: 222-for-302 passing (73.5 percent), 2,581 pass yards, 15 TDs, 4 INTs, passer rating of 159.04 (No. 13 nationally); 164 carries, 519 rush yards, 9 TDs

3. Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor: 178-for-271 passing (65.7 percent), 2,331 pass yards, 23 TDs, 10 INTs, passer rating of 158.6 (No. 14 nationally); 108 carries, 590 rush yards, 4 TDs; 1 reception for a 20-yard touchdown

4. Illinois RB Mikel Leshoure: 233 carries, 1,371 rush yards (124.6 ypg, No. 6 nationally), 15 touchdowns, seven 100-yard rushing performances; 330 rush yards against Northwestern set a team record and marked the fifth-highest total in Big Ten history.

5. Iowa QB Ricky Stanzi: 200-for-302 passing (66.2 percent), 2,677 pass yards, 23 TDs, 4 INTs, passer rating of 163.2 (No. 6 nationally); 2 rush TDs

6. Wisconsin QB Scott Tolzien: 167-for-226 passing (73.9 percent, leads nation), 2,070 pass yards, 12 TDs, 6 INTs, passer rating of 163.04 (No. 7 nationally)

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

1. Purdue DE Ryan Kerrigan: 66 tackles, 25 tackles for loss (leads nation), 12.5 sacks (No. 2 nationally), 5 forced fumbles (No. 2 nationally), 2 fumble recoveries

2. Wisconsin DE J.J. Watt: 52 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, 7 pass breakups, 7 quarterback hurries, 2 blocked kicks, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 interception

3. Illinois LB Martez Wilson: 100 tackles (9.1 tpg, No. 2 in Big Ten), 10.5 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 4 pass breakups, 1 interception, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 blocked kick, 4 quarterback hurries

4. Michigan State LB Greg Jones: 95 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 2 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, 6 quarterback hurries

FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR

1. Wisconsin RB James White: 128 carries, 895 rush yards (89.5 ypg, 7 ypc), 13 rush TDs; 10 receptions, 83 receiving yards; 15 kick returns, 283 return yards

2. Illinois QB Nathan Scheelhaase: 132-for-225 passing (58.7 percent), 1,522 pass yards, 16 TDs,8 INTs, passer rating of 131.8; 152 carries, 684 rush yards (62.2 ypg, 4.5 ypc), 3 TDs

3. Purdue CB Ricardo Allen: 65 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 3 interceptions (2 returned for TDs), 4 pass breakups
