BT awards roundup: Carimi wins Outland

Thursday was a big awards day around college football, both at the big show in Orlando and elsewhere.

I've got all of your Big Ten-related awards needs covered in this handy dandy post. Wisconsin running back John Clay didn't win the Doak Walker Award and Iowa punter Ryan Donahue didn't win the Ray Guy Award.

A lot of Badger love out there.

OUTLAND TROPHY

Wisconsin senior left tackle Gabe Carimi won the Outland Trophy as the nation's top interior lineman. This award is extremely well deserved, and going in I felt Carimi had the best chance of any Big Ten player to take some hardware away from Orlando. Carimi, who has started 48 career games, is the second Wisconsin tackle to win the Outland Trophy in the past five years, joining Joe Thomas in 2006. Two other Big Ten players have won the award in the past eight seasons: Iowa's Robert Gallery (2003) and Minnesota's Greg Eslinger (2005).
