Illinois sophomore offensive lineman Mike Garrity has been indefinitely suspended from the team after being arrested for assault following a bar fight last week in Champaign.

Garrity was arraigned Friday and charged with two counts of felony aggravated battery with great bodily harm. He's accused of assaulting a 19-year-old man at Kam's, a bar near the Illinois campus. Police said the man was severely injured and taken to an area hospital.

The incident is still under investigation.

"We are aware of the situation regarding Mike Garrity's arrest," Illinois head coach Ron Zook said in a statement. "He is currently suspended from the team indefinitely until we are able to gather all the facts. It is in the hands of the authorities right now and we will continue to monitor the situation."

Garrity, a third-string center, is scheduled to appear in court June 30 after posting bond.
