Curtis Drake's comeback at Penn State has been put on hold.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Drake broke his left tibia in spring practice. The wide receiver's injury occurred in a non-contact drill.
Drake missed all of last season after also breaking his left tibia during preseason camp. He had been in line for a starting receiver job and seemed likely to challenge for one again this spring.
Drake, who caught eight passes as a freshman in 2009, will miss the rest of the spring, and his return is unknown. It's certainly a tough situation for the redshirt sophomore, who recently told the Post-Gazette, "Not being on the field [was] just killing me."
Penn State is looking for other options to emerge around No. 1 wideout Derek Moye. Justin Brown and Devon Smith both are in the mix, but hopes had been high for the versatile Drake.
