Brady Hoke's title at Michigan might read "head coach," but he's a defensive line coach at heart.
His roots as a former Michigan assistant come across in the "Spring Football: 101" video with colleague Urban Meyer. Hoke has a very active role this spring in honing the fundamentals and techniques of Michigan's down linemen, who will play a huge role in whether the defense takes a step forward in 2011. In many ways Michigan has three defensive line coaches: Hoke, defensive coordinator Greg Mattison and Jerry Montgomery, who actually holds the title. Michigan's new scheme will be based around four down lineman, and Hoke knows he needs to get the group on track this spring.
Pretty impressive stuff from Hoke, whose passion for line play certainly comes across here.
