Nebraska quarterback recruit Bubba Starling didn't have to wait long Monday to hear his name called in the Major League Baseball draft.
The two-sport start -- recently profiled in this wonderful piece by colleague Mitch Sherman -- was selected fifth overall by the Kansas City Royals. Starling hails from Gardner, Kan., just southwest of Kansas City, so needless to say, his selection will be very popular in the area.
Now the wait begins to see if Starling pursues baseball with the Royals or football with Nebraska. He has said he plans to enroll at Nebraska in July, but it'll be hard to pass up what will be a lucrative contract to play pro baseball.
If he chooses football, Starling could be a big help for the Huskers, who need to develop more depth at quarterback after Cody Green's departure.
