Illinois is 2-0 as it completes the easiest portion of its advantageous schedule ...

Illinois 56, South Dakota State 3: This is how you should dispatch an overmatched FCS team. The Illini got off to a sluggish start in the opener against Arkansas State, but didn't have any trouble at all on Saturday. They rolled up 514 total yards to just 95 for the Jackrabbits and probably could have named their score. Ron Zook mercifully lifted the starters in the second half and got to take a look at a lot of young players. Freshman quarterback Reilly O'Toole finished 9-for-9 for 49 yards in the second half after starter Nathan Scheelhaase ran for 94 yards and two touchdowns. The Illini had a whopping 361 yards rushing for the day.

The offense has lived up to preseason billing thus far this year. But the schedule is about to get tougher, with Arizona State heading to Champaign next weekend.
