Spartans have no problems against FAU

Michigan State is 2-0 after an easy win on Saturday ...

Michigan State 44, Florida Atlantic 0: The Spartans were sloppy on offense during the opening win over Youngstown State. They did a great job of cleaning up their mistakes in Week 2. They rolled out to a 27-0 lead at halftime over Howard Schnellenberger's crew and then glided home without any trouble. Kirk Cousins was sharp, completing 16 of 20 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns, and Edwin Baker and Le'Veon Bell each ran for a score. Meanwhile, Michigan State's defense was wildly impressive, holding Florida Atlantic to fewer than 50 total yards and -- get this -- just one first down. The Owls aren't very good, but that's outstanding defense no matter who it comes against. Michigan State has allowed just one touchdown in two games, and that one came after a muffed punt last week against Youngstown State.

Like Illinois, the Spartans are about to see a major increase in competition level, as they take on Notre Dame in South Bend next week. This should help them take a lot of confidence into that matchup.
