Michigan State's defense won't shut down Notre Dame the way it did Florida Atlantic last week.

But it won't stop the Spartans from exposing Notre Dame's primary weakness.

Michigan State forced two Notre Dame turnovers in the first 13 minutes, bringing Notre Dame's nation-leading giveaway total to 12 in three games. The problem is the Spartans have a giveaway of their own and only three points off of Notre Dame's miscues.

I get the sense Michigan State has to take Notre Dame's first punch in this one, as the Irish will be fired up to get a win. If the Spartans get this to the fourth quarter with the game tight, you have to like their chances. Notre Dame will make mistakes in the clutch.

Can the Spartans capitalize?

Notre Dame leads 7-3 late in the first quarter.
