Badgers crush Huskers behind Wilson

MADISON, Wis. -- There's no doubt about the Big Ten's best team, and no doubt about the Big Ten's best player.
Wisconsin and quarterback Russell Wilson cleared up those questions Saturday night with a reverberating 48-17 win against No. 8 Nebraska. A Badgers team that looked good against sub-par competition looked very good against a solid Nebraska team that didn't put forth its best effort. Wilson was brilliant, completing 14 of 20 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns, to go along with 32 rush yards and a touchdown.
Right now, the Big Ten is Wisconsin and everyone else.
Any chance Nebraska had for a comeback vanished in the opening seconds of the third quarter, as Taylor Martinez threw his third interception in four possessions on the first play from scrimmage. Wisconsin converted for a touchdown and essentially put the game out of reach.
The Badgers now have a bye week before facing Indiana and then traveling to Michigan State, which could be their toughest test of the season.
The good news for Nebraska is the loss doesn't come in the Legends Division. Nebraska's home schedule still is favorable for the Huskers to get to Indianapolis, but they have to eliminate mistakes on offense and get their swagger back on defense. I wouldn't want to be in the defensive meeting room with the Pelini Bros. this week. Fortunately, Nebraska has a reeling Ohio State team coming to Lincoln (never thought I'd write that sentence).
More to come from Camp Randall so don't go anywhere.
