Big Ten in the latest polls

October, 30, 2011
After a wild Week 9, Big Ten teams shuffled around the latest national rankings.

Let's take a look ...

AP Poll

No. 9: Nebraska
No. 13: Michigan
No. 15: Michigan State
No. 16: Penn State
No. 19: Wisconsin

Coaches' Poll

No. 9: Nebraska
No. 13: Michigan
No. 15: Penn State
No. 16: Michigan State
No. 17: Wisconsin

Harris Poll

No. 9: Nebraska
No. 13: Michigan
No. 16: Penn State
No. 17: Michigan State
No. 18: Wisconsin

Despite an 8-1 record and being the only team unbeaten in Big Ten play, Penn State is struggling to gain national respect from the voters. I have the Nittany Lions ahead of Michigan and Michigan State in my latest power rankings ballot, but most folks need to see more from JoePa's crew as a daunting November schedule beckons. Wisconsin paid the price in the AP Poll for the second consecutive week after falling on the road in heartbreaking fashion. Given the Badgers' remaining schedule, expect Bret Bielema's team to rise up the polls in the coming weeks.

Nebraska cracked the top 10 in all three polls after its impressive win against Michigan State. The Spartans, meanwhile, dropped several spots in both polls. We'll find out tonight if Nebraska moves into the Top 10 of the BCS standings.

Ohio State is receiving votes in the polls after its breakthrough win against Wisconsin, but the Buckeyes need at least another win to rejoin the rankings.
