The Penn State board of trustees was scheduled to meet by phone on Tuesday night and again in person on Wednesday night to discuss the child molestation scandal that has head coach Joe Paterno's job in question, according to the Centre Daily Times.
"The board of directors is very concerned about the chain of events that have occurred," trustee Paul Silvis told the newspaper while confirming the meetings.
Tuesday's phone meeting was set to begin at 8 p.m. ET, while Wednesday's in-person meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m.
"We're making sure we put processes in place so that we never have anyone in a position of trust ever violate young boys ever again," Silvis told the paper. "It's just shameful what happened. We need to focus not on football, not on Paterno or any of that crap. It's about putting systems, procedures, checks and balances in place so this can never happen ever again."
The board could decide to oust Paterno and/or university president Graham Spanier. Sources have told ESPN.com that support from the board has eroded in light of the scandal involving former Penn State assistant Jerry Sandusky.
