Penn State held its pro day on Wednesday, and while former Nittany Lions tried to impress NFL scouts, there was some news about the current team.

New head coach Bill O'Brien confirmed to reporters that ex-Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien has contacted Penn State and is interested in possibly transferring there. He would be immediately eligible. Wisconsin is also reportedly interested in Danny O'Brien.

"Danny does have an interest," Bill O'Brien said. "I'd say we're one of many schools that he's looking at. If I can do anything to improve the football team within the rules, whether that's a recruiting idea or a scheme or transfer, then I'm definitely going to look into it."

But O'Brien says that as far as spring practice goes, the quarterback position will be up for grabs between Matt McGloin, Rob Bolden and Paul Jones, the latter of whom is academically eligible.

“A lot of my opinions will be formed in the spring,” O’Brien said. “We’ll do the best we can to divide the reps among the three top guys."

O'Brien also disclosed a few positions switches for the spring. The most notable is Bill Belton, whose most significant action in 2011 came as a Wildcat quarterback. The sophomore will work out at tailback this spring.

Other moves are: Nate Cadogan from tight end to offensive tackle; Anthony Alosi from defensive line to offensive line, J.R. Refice from defensive tackle to fullback and Dakota Royer from linebacker to tight end.
