It'll be the Ns against the Ws on Sept. 29 at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.

Giant letters are the distinguishing characteristic of the alternate jerseys players from both Nebraska and Wisconsin will wear for their Big Ten opener, being dubbed the "Unrivaled Game" by adidas. Nebraska and adidas debuted Big Red's uniforms late last month, setting off quite the tempest in the Cornhusker state. Wisconsin's unveiling took place today, and the design, not surprisingly, is similar.

The Badgers will have a giant "W" on their chests and their helmets, as well as on the inside of their gloves. Their numbers appear on the upper left corner of the jersey. There are stripes along the sides of the uniform pants and another set of Ws, and the back includes "Badgers" rather than the last names of the players. As some have remarked, it's actually more of a classic look for Bret Bielema's crew.

From a news release:
The Badgers' new adidas TECHFIT football uniform highlights the history of the Wisconsin "W" and celebrates the school's rich football heritage. The white uniform features red shoulders and showcases a bold red "W" on the chest and player numbers above the heart.
Wisconsin's red helmet featuring a black face mask and white "W" and the team's adizero Smoke gloves showcasing the "W" logo pay homage to Badger pride. The reflective black uppers of the team's adizero cleats combined with the red electro-plated bottom, will bring a bright and exciting look to Wisconsin's footwear during their Unrivaled Game.
The use of the "block W" harkens back to the days of Wisconsin's 1962 Big Ten championship team, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this fall. That team wore the "block W" on their helmets and went on to play USC in the 1963 Rose Bowl, one of the most famous bowl games of all time.

Like the historic touch. As for the uniforms as a whole, I'm lukewarm on them. Although they're not as jarring as Nebraska's, given the Huskers' iconic look during the years, I actually prefer Nebraska's look to Wisconsin's. But the differences between the two uniforms aren't major.

Many of you remarked how similar Nebraska's and Wisconsin's standard uniforms are to each other. The alternate unis also are obviously linked.
