ESPN's first 2012 Heisman Watch is out, and two Big Ten players are in the top four of the initial poll.
Wisconsin's Montee Ball, a Heisman Trophy finalist last season, checked in at No. 2 behind USC quarterback Matt Barkley. Ball did not get a first place vote but received nine second-place votes from the 15-person voting panel.
West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith was third, followed by Michigan's Denard Robinson, who received two second-place votes. Robinson is one point behind Smith in the voting.
Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones rounded out the Top 5.
Adam and I both vote in the Heisman Watch every week. Here was my first ballot:
1. Barkley
2. Ball
3. De'Anthony Thomas, RB, Oregon
4. Smith
5. Robinson
