MarQueis Gray leaves game with leg injury

Minnesota's strong start to the season has been tempered by some bad news.

Gophers senior quarterback MarQueis Gray left Saturday's game with a left leg injury in the second quarter and will not return.

Gray injured his left knee and ankle in the second quarter. He was carted to the locker room and appeared on the sideline on crutches in the third quarter.

Max Shortell relieved Gray and led two touchdown drives as Minnesota took a 21-10 lead at halftime. Gray completed 3-of-6 passes for 29 yards and a touchdown and added 57 rush yards on 11 carries before suffering the injury.
