Dantonio in no mood to talk after win

Michigan State had its share of problems in Saturday's 23-7 victory over Eastern Michigan. And head coach Mark Dantonio wasn't too eager to discuss it.

Dantonio's postgame press conference lasted less than three minutes, and many of the questions were greeted with a short answer, followed by "next question."

MLive.com had the following transcript of the, uh, interview session:
On if he saw clarity in the receiving corps:

"Did you? OK. Next question."

On how surprising it was to see a lack of emotion from the team after last week's loss:

"It was surprising. Next question."

On if the offense needed to play better to be effective against Ohio State:

"Yes. Next question."

On if dropped balls from the receivers are affecting quarterback Andrew Maxwell's performance:

"Uh, I would say it is because the ball doesn’t advance. Next question."

On defensive end William Gholston not playing until second half:

"He was in and out of practice this week, so we made that decision."

On if Gholston was dealing with an injury situation:

"I don’t talk about injuries. Next question."

On running back Le'Veon Bell and tight end Dion Sims having big games:

"They were big. Next question. I’m just loving all these questions because they’re great ones."

On if it was a tough decision to use Bell as a punt-return man:

"Not when you (Nick Hill) cough up the punt the time before. Next question. Thanks, guys. Go Green."

We saw USC coach Lane Kiffin storm out of an interview session after practice this week after just one question. Kiffn drew heavy criticism for that and later apologized for how he handled it. Dantonio's wasn't quite as bad, but the coach clearly had little interest in going over his team's struggles in the passing game -- or other issues, for that matter.

Dantonio shut down his players from media access in the week before last season's Ohio State game, and with the Buckeyes coming to town next week for the Big Ten opener, Dantonio is playing things close to the vest again.
