Michigan will be without starting center David Molk for the rest of the season after the sophomore tore the ACL in his right knee during Saturday's loss to Penn State.
Molk had just returned to the lineup after missing four games with a broken bone in his foot, but he went down on Michigan's fourth play from scrimmage. He will undergo surgery when the swelling goes down and sit out spring practice before returning for preseason camp in August.
"It was a non-contact injury," head coach Rich Rodriguez said. "He was running well, planted funny. I feel bad for David. He has more bad luck."
Guard David Moosman, who replaced Molk during his previous absence and again on Saturday, will start at center Saturday against Illinois (ABC, 3:30 p.m. ET). Moosman had struggled with snaps this season and snapped the ball through the end zone for a safety against Penn State.
Michigan also will monitor injuries to wide receiver Junior Hemingway (knee) and running back Brandon Minor (ankle/foot).
