There's plenty of intrigue here in Iowa City, but let's take a look at what has happened so far in Madison and Columbus.
Purdue-Wisconsin: Much like Indiana-Iowa, I can't say I saw this one coming. Wisconsin has stormed back following its bye week to take a 24-0 halftime lead on the Boilers. Running back John Clay eclipsed 100 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns in the opening half, and the Wisconsin defense allowed only 101 total yards. Purdue quarterback Joey Elliott has really struggled after several strong performances, and Wisconsin capped the half with a blocked punt recovered for a touchdown. Purdue hasn't really been blown out this season -- the Minnesota game was close for a while -- so this would be an impressive result for the Badgers.
New Mexico State-Ohio State: It took the Buckeyes' offense a quarter to get going, but Ohio State really turned it on with 28 second-quarter points. Terrelle Pryor hasn't been consistent as a passer but seems well on his way to another 100-yard rushing effort. Wideout DeVier Posey continues to break out with four receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown pass to fellow receiver Dane Sanzenbacher, who has two scores. As expected, the Buckeyes' defense is throttling the nation's worst offense, holding New Mexico State to 41 total yards in the opening half.
