IOWA CITY, Iowa -- It's going to be survival of the fittest here at Kinnick Stadium as quarterbacks are going down left and right.

Iowa's Ricky Stanzi (ankle) won't be back, and Northwestern likely will play the rest of the game without backup quarterback Dan Persa, who has a hand injury. Persa has gotten most of the work today because starter Mike Kafka is still limited by a left hamstring injury.

Kafka showed a lot of guts on Northwestern's last drive, making several impressive throws. NU capped it off with a 47-yard field goal by Stefan Demos to take a 17-10 lead with 13:29 left.

Iowa needs to answer behind backup quarterback James Vandenberg, who has looked a bit better in the second half.
