Purdue's Curtis Painter could be trying too hard, Wisconsin's Allan Evridge must improve his accuracy and Ohio State's Todd Boeckman and Iowa's Jake Christensen have lost their starting jobs.

The national epidemic of struggling veteran quarterbacks has hit the Big Ten especially hard. Aside from Illinois junior Juice Williams and Minnesota sophomore Adam Weber, few of the league's returning starters at quarterback have made obvious progress.

Here's a look at how Big Ten quarterbacks with previous starting experience stack up to their previous production. In Evridge's case, I'll use the statistics from his freshman year at Kansas State, when he started seven games.

Keep in mind the 2008 stats are through five or six games. Penn State's Daryll Clark played sparingly last year and Michigan's Steven Threet not at all, so the list includes nine teams.
