But Huskers fans might not see Abdullah on the field for the spring game April 6 at Memorial Stadium.
Pelini said Monday that Abdullah "tweaked" his knee and will miss at least a few weeks. The junior could return later this spring, but Pelini will decide if he does.
Nebraska would be wise not to take any chances with Abdullah, the team's projected starter who replaced the injured Rex Burkhead last season and rushed for 1,137 yards and eight touchdowns on 226 carries. Although Imani Cross emerged as a reserve, Nebraska lost Braylon Heard to transfer during the winter and doesn't boast a ton of depth behind Abdullah and Cross.
Burkhead missed most of his senior season with a sprained MCL that twice flared up in games. Pelini said Abdullah's injury is similar but "to a lesser degree."
The team also announced that sophomore offensive lineman Ryne Reeves will miss the rest of the spring with an ankle injury. He'll return for preseason camp.
