Earlier today, Adam and I debated who would lead the league in rushing yards in 2013. Now, it's your turn to decide.

  • Carlos Hyde, Ohio State: Adam's choice to lead the league in rushing yards, Hyde finished with 970 yards in 10 games last year. He was actually second in rushing on his own team behind quarterback Braxton Miller, but Adam thinks the Buckeyes will lean more heavily on Hyde in the running game this season.
  • Ameer Abdullah, Nebraska: My pick for the rushing champion, Abdullah ran for 1,137 yards in 14 games last year despite splitting time at the beginning and end of the season with Rex Burkhead. This year, the tailback job is all his, though quarterback Taylor Martinez will take his fair share of carries.
  • Venric Mark, Northwestern: Mark broke out in a big way last year with 1,371 rushing yards, becoming the Wildcats' first 1,000-yard rusher since 2006. Like Hyde and Abdullah, though, he does have a running quarterback in his own backfield in Kain Colter.
  • James White, Wisconsin: White ran for 1,052 yards in 2010 before playing second fiddle to Montee Ball the past two seasons. This year, he could be the Badgers' main tailback, and Wisconsin running backs usually put up huge numbers because of that offensive line.
  • Melvin Gordon, Wisconsin: If it's not White, then perhaps Gordon will be the Wisconsin tailback who picks up the mantle from Ball. He might be the most athletically gifted back to come through Madison in years, and if he can beat out White for the most touches, the sky is the limit on his potential numbers.
