The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder had yet to see any game action for the Spartans, but he was the only wide receiver who caught a touchdown pass in each of Michigan State's three spring football scrimmages. He had a 46-yard touchdown reception in the spring game and was hoping to contribute to a still inexperienced receiving corps.
Instead, it's another tough break for Troup, who tore his ACL in high school and then reinjured his knee in 2011, leading to a redshirt season.
The Spartans lost another receiver this offseason when Juwan Caesar transferred, eventually winding up at Florida A&M. The way Michigan State's passing game went last year, the team can't afford to lose too many more options.
