It's been a strange day around the Big Ten so far, and not just here at the Metrodome.
Michigan and Purdue, the Big Ten's two worst offenses, have combined for 49 first-half points in West Lafayette. Boilermakers sophomore Justin Siller got the start and has performed well, racking up 145 total yards with no interceptions. Michigan has countered with big plays on both offense and special teams.
Wisconsin carried over its momentum from last week's win into today's contest at No. 21 Michigan State. Junior running back P.J. Hill turned in a strong first half, while the Badgers defense has shut down Spartans senior Javon Ringer (10 carries, 27 yards). Turnovers likely will decide this one, and Wisconsin has committed the lone giveaway.
Marcus Thigpen's big-play ability is keeping Indiana in its game against Central Michigan. The speedy senior has touchdown runs of 77 and 22 yards in the first half. While quarterbacks Ben Chappell and Kellen Lewis both have played for Indiana, Central Michigan star Dan LeFevour is sidelined with an ankle injury. But Brian Brunner hasn't missed a beat, tossing three first-half touchdowns.
