For the second consecutive year, Wisconsin's athletic board approved a small contract extension for head football coach Bret Bielema.
But this time around, Bielema's one-year contract bump will be viewed in a much different light.
Fans weren't pleased with Bielema or the one-year extension he received after a very disappointing 2008 season that ended with a blowout loss in the Champs Sports Bowl. There shouldn't be any objection to Friday's extension, which comes on the heels of a 10-3 season and an impressive win against Miami in the Champs Sports Bowl. Bielema grew as a head coach both before and during the 2009 season, and the results showed both on and off the field for the Badgers.
Bielema is now locked up through Jan. 31, 2015, and has Wisconsin on the uptick heading into the 2010 season, where expectations will be certainly higher.
