Minnesota needs a rally to avoid disaster
By ESPN.com staff
If Minnesota doesn't rally in the fourth quarter, it will join Kansas and Mississippi in a notorious group of teams from AQ leagues that have lost to FCS opponents this season.
South Dakota has continued to move the ball on Minnesota's new-look defense, taking a 34-24 lead into the fourth quarter. Minnesota had a nice third-quarter burst behind quarterback Adam Weber, who has thrown the ball very well today (3 TDs), but South Dakota countered with another touchdown drive. Quarterback Dante Warren has been very good for the Coyotes.
No matter what happens in the final quarter, Minnesota's defense has been exposed today. With so many new players, you can see why the Gophers have to control the clock with their run game.
I'd be putting it mildly to say Tim Brewster needs this game. He's already on the hot seat, and a loss today would be disastrous.
