Michigan's already shaky quarterback situation appears to have taken another blow.
The Michigan Daily reported tonight that Wolverines junior quarterback Nick Sheridan was spotted on campus with crutches and a large boot on his right leg. A Michigan team spokesman told ESPN.com earlier today that he could neither confirm nor deny an injury to Sheridan and said head coach Rich Rodriguez would address any injury issues when he talks with reporters before Thursday's practice.
Rumors surfaced following Tuesday's practice that Sheridan suffered a leg injury. A source told The Detroit News that Sheridan will miss the rest of spring practice, which concludes April 11 with the spring game at Michigan Stadium.
Sheridan started the 2008 season opener and three other games. He split snaps with Steven Threet, who transferred from the school last month.
A former walk-on, Sheridan entered spring practice as the No. 1 quarterback but has been competing with freshman Tate Forcier and David Cone. If Sheridan misses any extended period, Forcier likely will become the frontrunner, if he wasn't already. Another freshman, Denard Robinson, arrives this summer.
