Mackey semifinalists: Kendricks, Reisner
By ESPN.com staff
Wisconsin's Lance Kendricks and Iowa's Allen Reisner have been named semifinalists for the John Mackey Award, given to the nation's top tight end.
Kendricks leads the Badgers in receptions (31), receiving yards (473) and receiving touchdowns (4). After back-to-back 100-yard receiving performances in nonconference play, his production has dipped a bit during the Big Ten portion, although he had a touchdown catch Saturday against Indiana.
Reisner ranks third on the Hawkeyes in both receptions (35) and receiving yards (370) and has hauled in two touchdowns. He has recorded three or more receptions in seven games this season, including six catches for 66 yards Saturday against Northwestern.
Two strong choices from the Big Ten.
It would have been nice to see Northwestern's Drake Dunsmore (36 catches, 339 receiving yards, 4 touchdowns) and Minnesota's Eric Lair (37 receptions, 507 receiving yards, 2 TDs) make the list of eight semifinalists.
Three finalists for the award will be named Nov. 22, and the winner will be announced Dec. 9 on the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show.
