Why he's here: Wisconsin always runs the ball well, but White provided a new element to the Badgers' ground game and took it to another level this fall. Despite the presence of 2009 Big Ten offensive player of the year John Clay and capable backup Montee Ball, White immediately put himself in the mix for carries with a superb preseason camp. His breakaway speed and moves complemented both Clay and Ball, and he earned the coaches' trust in key situations like the fourth quarter against Ohio State. "He's going to win a one-on-one, and sometimes he can make two people miss," Badgers running backs coach John Settle said of White. "He's that added dimension that we needed." White earned consensus Big Ten freshman of the year honors for his efforts, and he led the team in both rushing and all-purpose yards (1,469). He'll headline the Wisconsin run game in 2011 alongside Ball.
