Ohio State will be without arguably its top offensive lineman for several weeks as left guard Justin Boren sprained his knee during Friday's practice.
A source tells ESPN affiliate Web site Bucknuts.com that Boren will be out for no more than three weeks with a sprained MCL. So no major damage done, though the preseason is always a critical time for an offensive line to jell, especially one coming off a subpar season. Boren, a transfer from Michigan, was Ohio State's most impressive lineman this spring and set a tone for the group.
Reports say Boren should be fine for the season opener Sept. 5 against Navy. Junior Connor Smith likely will slide into the starting spot while Boren recovers.
